The supreme Mediate is a very wise leader, but he's getting old and tired from holding for so long such a powerful position at the head of the Guild.

He considers Axle Munshine like his son and heir, and intends to hand his responsibilities over to him.

Without his paternal affection and indulgence, how would a rebel like Axle always get his way within the complex hierarchy of the Guild ?

But in spite of the bright future the old Mediate has in store for him, Axle, who despises political intrigue and power games, is not happy.

He has no family left, except for his beloved father - who mysteriously vanished, several years ago.

Axle's diplomatic responsibilities as Great Conciliator of the Guild merely serve to isolate him and make him feel more lonely.

He only finds solace in dreams that take him into another world, where he meets the loveliest woman he has ever seen.

This is how he's going to find himself breaking the most sacred laws of his world to reach the woman of his dreams – and as a result, the order of the entire Universe will find itself shattered forever.

The old Mediate shall never quite recover from these events, which will severely undermine his authority, and later his health.

But that won't stop him from protecting the Vagabond of Limbo, whenever he can, against the numerous traps set by his enemies.
